Churches are constantly losing members. Whether to other local churches, or to no church at all–it’s a fact.
As Church leaders, this should bother us.
- When the church across the street is bigger or “better” than ours, how can we compete? (Is competition even a valid word in this conversation?)
- When the people leaving complain (often legitimately) that people don’t understand them, what can be done?
Amazingly, the answer is similar for both questions.
Fostering community within your own local church helps people understand one another, and it provides the camaraderie that larger churches so often struggle to experience.
Imagine this! Every member of your church has access–whether in printed book form or in an online member portal–to details about every other member’s background: professional; religious; developmental; hopes, fears, dreams; and hobbies.
These details are often available on church websites for the pastors and staff, but why is the church staff the only group that people should know anything about? (It perpetuates the celebrity culture so common in Christianity today and downplays the Priesthood of all believers.)
I want to talk to YOU, PASTOR, about the possibility of writing bios for every member of your church.
$30/hour

I look forward to hearing from you!
